Access

Everyone gets in. Everyone gets heard.

FLIRT is built on the principle that the room is only as smart as the people it lets in. This page is what we commit to, and how to tell us what you need.

Step-free venues

Step-free access to the main programme is a condition of every venue we book, alongside accessible toilets. Details for each location are published as it is confirmed.

BSL & live captions

All stages are live-captioned across both days. BSL interpretation on request for any session, 14 days notice preferred.

Sensory & quiet room

A dedicated low-stimulus quiet room is open across festival hours. Ear defenders available at the info desk.

Personal assistants

PAs and support workers attend free of charge with any ticket holder, email us and we'll issue a companion pass.

Speaker access

Speakers can request captioning, interpreters, seated delivery, adjusted lighting, and content warnings before their session.

Access bursaries

A limited pool of free and reduced-price tickets is ringfenced for disabled and chronically ill attendees. No means-testing.

Tell us what you need.

The best access plan is one we build with you. Email the access team at least two weeks before the festival if possible, later is fine too, we'll do everything we can.

Work and Access
Design · disability · equity

Access is an editorial strand in the Work and Access zone, led by people with lived experience: inclusive design, disabled founders and technology that doesn't leave people behind.

If we get it wrong

Tell us. On the day, find any FLIRT crew member (lanyards marked STAFF). After the festival, email access@flirtconference.com, we read every message.
